1. Overview
Whatsit ("the App") takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects and how it is used. The App lets you record voice memos that are automatically transcribed by AI and organized into categories.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Anonymous Identifier
- What: An anonymous identifier (UID) generated automatically by the app. No personally identifying information such as email, name, or profile is collected.
- Purpose: To associate memos with your own data
- How: Handled via Firebase Anonymous Authentication — no sign-in required.
2.2 Voice Data
- What: Voice memos you record
- Purpose: To transcribe speech to text and automatically classify the content into categories
- How: Recorded audio is sent to our Firebase server for transcription by Google Gemini AI. See "Data Retention" below for what happens after transcription.
2.3 Memo Data
- What: Transcribed text, AI-assigned category / priority / schedule information, and memo status
- Purpose: To provide and sync your organized memos
- Where: Stored in Cloud Firestore, linked to your account
2.4 Notification Token
- What: A device token (FCM token) used to deliver push notifications
- Purpose: To send processing-complete and reminder notifications
2.5 Usage Statistics (Anonymous)
- What: App usage events (e.g., number of recordings, screen navigation)
- Purpose: To improve service quality and analyze usage patterns
- How: Collected anonymously via Firebase Analytics
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following external services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

External service privacy policies and terms:
3.1 Third-Party AI Processing and Equivalent Protection
Your recorded audio files are sent to and processed by Google Gemini API (Google LLC) for transcription and automatic classification (category, priority, and schedule). After processing, only the transcribed text and classification results are returned to the App.
We require the third party above (Google LLC) to protect this data at a level equal to or greater than our own, in accordance with applicable law, and the data is processed solely for the purpose of providing the Whatsit service. Data sent to the Google Gemini API is handled under the Google Gemini API Terms; under those terms, data submitted through paid services is not used to train Google's generative AI models.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
4.1 Account and Memo Data
- Account information and memo data are retained while you use the service and are deleted upon account deletion request.
- Deleting the App may not remove data stored on the server; to fully delete your data, please request account deletion via the contact below.
4.2 Audio Files
- Recorded audio is used solely for transcription and is uploaded to the server temporarily for that purpose.
- Audio used for transcription is handled in accordance with Google's data processing policies.
5. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
6. Your Rights
- Access: You can view your stored memos within the App at any time
- Deletion: You can delete individual memos in the App; to delete your account and all data, contact us below
- Permission withdrawal: You can change microphone and notification permissions anytime in iOS Settings
- Sign out: You can sign out at any time from the App's settings menu
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the changes will be announced through an App update or this page.
